Start of activity in the frame of “SOURCE OF HOPE” project

The “SOURCE OF HOPE” project is supported by the ICF “Alliance of Public Health”. It is  continuation of the previous “WING OF HOPE” project which has been implemented during three last years. In the frame of the project the following activities are developed:

Support of mobile ambulance activity

The mobile ambulance develops daily outreach routs all around city of Lviv and Lviv region    visiting regional cities and villages: Drohobych, Striy, Noviy Rozdil, Chervonograd, Zhovkva,    Boryslav, Sosnivka, Pustomyty, Gorodok, Schyrets, Zhydachiv, Yavoriv, Stebnyk, Truskavets,   Sokal, Sambir, Mykolaiv. Outreach team members provide counseling, help beneficiaries in   performing self testing on HIV, VBH, VCH. They distribute condoms and lubricants and  perform   syringes and needles exchange.

 Preventive activity directed on injective drug users on the background of pharmacies

The program is implemented in four pharmacies of Lviv, where beneficiaries are able to  receive information materials, condoms, lubricants and to perform needles and syringes exchange.

Implementation of substitutive supportive therapy

On the  area of the Lviv region there are six  substitute support therapy sites. Multidisciplinary staff  provides substitute support therapy as well as integrative medical, social and psychological support. Three sites are placed in Lviv, the others – in Chervonograd, Drohobych and Striy.

Community support for cases of tuberculosis detection by means of improving access to qualitative diagnostics among homeless and ex-prisoners

In the frame of the project it is planned to perform screening questionnaire on tuberculosis for symptoms of disease identification, performing social accompaniment  beneficiaries with positive screening tests (counseling of GP, accompaniment to examinations: fluorography/X-ray and sputum collection. In case of confirmed tuberculosis beneficiary should be motivated by staff to start treatment.
