Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean - Governor-General of Canada, has visited the Charity Foundation Salus

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean - Governor-General of Canada, accompanied by representatives of Canada Embassy in Ukraine and members of Canadian delegation has visited the Charity Foundation Salus,where she met representatives of state and non-governmental organizations working in the area of solving women problems.

President of the Charity Foundation Salus – Olexandra Sluzhynska, welcomed the guests. Short reports were delivered by Olesia Sanots’ka – chief of the NGO “Oselya” – asylum for homeless people and Maksym Philyak – coordinator of the programmes at Migrants Centre. Olexandra Sluzhynska spoke about health status of Ukrainian women and about necessity of reinforcement of preventive programmes among women. Martha Chumalo – vice-director of the women’s organization “Women’s perspectives” talked about violence and ways of its prevention.

Representatives of Ukrainian and Canadian organizations took part in the discussion. The closing speech was made by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean - Governor-General of Canada, who expressed a personal interest in problems discussed at the meeting because for a long time had been dealing with women’s problems in Canada.
