Charity Foundation Salus has started the project “HIV prevention and improving access to VCT, STI’s testing and treatment of women sex workers and injecting drug users” under the auspices of International Alliance on HIV/AIDS in Ukraine.

Actions dealing with HIV and STI’s prevention among injecting drug users and women sex workers have been started. Activities include: needle and syringe exchange, free of charge distribution of condoms and other items, as well as dissemination of informational materials through network of Lviv city drug-stores; carrying out HIV and STI’s rapid tests at the mobile ambulatory; organization of the Interregional Information-Resource HIV/AIDS Centre.

A database of HIV-service organizations and social services in Lviv and Volyn regions is being developing. Salus experts visit different HIV-service organizations informing their staff that Interregional Information-Resource HIV/AIDS Centre has started working and searching new NGO’s and initiative groups eager to join Salus staff in HIV/AIDS preventive activities.
