TEACHING SKILLS OF SELF-EXAMINATION OF BREASTS AND EARLY DETECTION OF BREAST CANCER AMONG TEACHERS OF LVIV CITY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
Charity foundation Salus is implementing a project which envisages teaching skills of self-examination of breasts. In the first stage of the project it is planned to train 40 qualified trainers -oncogynecologists, obstetricians-gynecologists, and family doctors of Lviv city hospitals and polyclinics. They will obtain up-to-date information about breast cancer and will learn how to teach females to carry out self-examination of breasts. In the second stage the trainers, working in pairs, will provide two workshops with groups, 20-25 persons in each, of female teachers from Lviv city educational institutions teaching them self-examination of breasts. During the workshops the trainers-physicians will examine visually and palpably the breasts of the attendees. In case of need the trainers will refer the attendees either to mammologist or to mammography or ultrasound examination of breasts. The referred persons will get a special coupon which enables them to obtain consultations or examinations free of charge in Lviv city mammologic centre. The quantity of provided consultations and examinations will be registered by Lviv City Health Authority. It is planned to train 800-100 female teachers which accounts for one-fifth of all female teachers working in Lviv city educational institutions.
