Sharing experience to overcome negative social phenomena

From 15 to 18 October, 2013 at the hotel Dniester (Lviv) a regional school for advocacy of interests and access to services for people who are sex workers in relationship with HIV infection was held.

            The school was attended by representatives from Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The main objective of the training was to improve the efficiency of activities carried out by NGOs and initiative groups to advocate for access to comprehensive services connected with HIV prevention and care of persons who were involved in the provision of commercial sexual services.

            In the framework of the work participants of the regional advocacy school has visited CF “Salus”, which had been implementing for 16 years programs to overcome the effects of negative phenomena and HIV infection in the community. Executive Director of the CF “Salus” Dr Oleksandra Sluzhynska, top managers of different directions of the NGO’s work shared with guests their experience and told about methods they use while working with vulnerable groups of population. They have described their outreach activities, work of the “Salus” mobile ambulatory, functioning of the Crisis centre, implementation of art and advocacy projects, and etc.
