ON HIV/AIDS AND STI’s PREVENTION AMONG COMMERCIAL SEX WORKERS

Partner:International Alliance on HIV/AIDS in Ukraine

This project is aimed:
Publication and distribution of informational materials on  HIV/AIDS and STI’s prevention among CSW.

Target groups: commercial sex workers

“AIDS  CLOSE TO YOU” –  HIV/AIDS PREVENTION INWESTERN UKRAINE

Project duration: 2006-2007

Partner: Secours Catholique Caritas France

This project is aimed:
Support of activities of Crisis Centre for women in crisis situations, providing women with medical, diagnostic and psychological services? Developing the World AIDS Day celebration.

Target groups: women in crisis situation (victims of violence, sexual exploitation, trafficking, ones who have leaved from priason)

"ERATO" PROGRAM ON PROVIDING INFORMATION AND HEALTH SERVICES
TO SEX WORKERS AND VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Project start 2005

Partner:Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, ACT UP HELLAS NGO, NGO Odyseus (Slovak Republic)
This project is aimed:
Providing information and health services to sex workers and victims of human trafficking.

Program ERATO is performed in partnership with NGO ACT UP HELLAS (Greece) and NGO Odyseus (Slovak Republic).
In the frame of the project activities on providing information are performed. The project is aimed on providing access to diagnostic and health services for sex workers and victims of human trafficking.
Target groups:

  • victims of sexual exploitation
  • victims of trafficking

    Project start 2004 

    Partner: International Foundation TAMPEP, Project is supported by MATRA 
    This project is aimed:
    1) to improve access of sex workers working on the border area to medical services, to increase their knowledge about HIV and sexually transmitted diseases prevention, diagnostics and treatment.
    2) to develop national platform of NGOs and GOs dealing with sex workers' problems

    Target group:

    • sex workers working in Lviv and Lviv region

    DEVELOPMENT OF NETWORK OF INNOVATING SOCIAL SERVICES IN UKRAINE

    FOR WOMEN VICTIMS OF TRAFFICKING
     
    Project start: 2004
    Partners: Secours Catholique Caritas France, ALC , Caritas Ukraine 
    The project is supported by the TACIS IBĐP program of the European Commission. The main aims of the project are:
    1) Providing women - victims of trafficking who return to Ukraine after their stay abroad with medical, diagnostic and social assistance.
    2) Developing workshops "Let's talk about" on violence prevention for teachers and for secondary school students. 725 people from Lviv and Lviv region area should participate in the workshops.

    TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF Project start: 2002
    Partner: PATH

    The project Take Care of Yourself is focused on increase of information among the population of Lviv region about danger of cervical cancer and about possible ways of its prevention. The aim of the project is improvement of women access to medical-diagnostic services, providing qualified diagnostic and in time treatment of cervical cancer cases. Duration of the project is 2 years.

    Project directions:
    • Design and publication of informational materials, concerning questions of cervical cancer prevention
    • Organization of informational telephone line on cervical cancer problems.
    • Organization of round tables with family doctors, dermatologists, post graduate physicians and teachers concerning cervical cancer prevention.
    • Promotion for Lviv region women access to medical-diagnostic services, directed for early diagnostic of cervical cancer cases.

    • women of reproductive age

    New strategies of HIV/AIDS prevention in the
     environment of sex-business women
    Project start: 2002
    Partner: Ukrainian Institute of Social Researches
    The project takes place in 18 regions of Ukraine. It is directed on establishment of effective cooperation, fruitful interaction and coordination of common actions, concerning intensification of prophylactic activities as to HIV infection among representatives of vulnerable group - sex business workers.

    There are organized round tables, press conferences, meetings with representatives of self support groups under the project. The aim of the project is organization of testing, design of informational and educational materials, basic research of behavior of sex business women. 
     

    RAPE CRISIS CENTRE Project start: 1995
    Partner: the International Renaissance Foundation, Scientific Medical-Diagnostic center ASTAR

    The Centre provides women and girls victims of rape with medical and psychological care and diagnostics of STIs and HIV.

    Target group:
    • women in crisis situation

    WEST UKRAINIAN PROGRAMME ON TRAFFICKING IN WOMEN PREVENTION Project start: 1999
    Partner: the Global Fund for Women, La Strada, TAMPEP
    Target group:
    • the victims of trafficking in women after their return back to Ukraine
    Services provided:
    • Diagnostics and medical treatment of STIs
    • Psychological counceling

    "PRO FEMINAE"- STIs AND CERVICAL CANCER PREVENTION Project start: 2000
    Partner: the International Renaissance Foundation, Scientific Medical-Diagnostic center ASTAR
    Services provided:
    • lections and trainings for medical workers and women about the STIs and cervical cancer prevention
    • development of the system for prompt diagnosing of the cervical cancer on early stages
    • diagnostics and treatment
    Target groups:
    • women of reproductive age living in Lviv region
    Publications:

    • methodical broshure "Method of Polimerise Chain Reaction (PCR) and its advantages in diagnosing of urogenital infections",

    "MOON LIGHT - HARM REDUCTION PROGRAM FOR SEX WORKERS USING INJECTIVE DRUGS Project start: 2001
    Partner: the Open Society Institute

    The project is supported by the Open Society Institute. It has started in January 2001. It is planned to develop HIV prevention activity among the sex workers-drug users, to provide them with syringes, needles, condoms and lubricants, to publish the information leaflets about the STIs and AIDS, to ensure the access to medical and social services.

    Services provided:
    • consultation of gynecologist, dermatologist and genito-urinary physytian
    • pre- and after- testing councelling regarding HIV/AIDS
    • diagnostics and treatment of STI's
    • syringe exchange
    • distribution of desinfectants, condoms and lubricants
    • informational services
    • outreach work
    Target groups:
    • representatives of commercial sex business,
    • injective drugs users
